Senegalese businessman, Abdoulaye Thiam’s civil lawsuit against Gambian socialite Aisha Fatty, suffered a setback on Monday, when the case was adjourned to Tuesday.
The plaintiff’s (Abdoulaye Thiam) lawyers were scheduled to continue tendering documents in court today for the pre-trial. However, when the clerk of the court called the case, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Lamin A. Ceesay, informed the court that the defendant’s lawyer, Lamin S. Camara, had filed an application for an adjournment due to health complications.
Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the High Court adjourned the case to Tuesday, July 25th for continuation of the pre-trial.
Aisha Fatty, a Gambian socialite, has been sued by her ex-fiancé, Senegalese businessman Abdoulaye Thiam, for allegedly breaching their marriage promise. Thiam claims that the breach has caused him emotional distress and embarrassment. He is also suing the Inspector General of Police, Abdoulie Sanyang, who is the second defendant in the civil suit.
The civil suit was first brought before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the High Court of the Gambia in April 2023.
