State versus Momodou Sabally Closed
By Fatou Sillah
The State’s case against the National Campaign Manager for the United Democratic Party (UDP), Momodou Sabally was struck out of court earlier today.
It could be recalled that Momodou Sabally was arrested and detained and the detention was extended by Justice Ngui Mboob for a hearing schedule for today, January 3rd, 2023. Events have since surpassed Justice Mboob’s ruling as the state decided to unconditionally release Momodou Sabally from detention a few days ago.
The unconditional release from detention made the State’s case moot. The case was therefore stricken out when it was called for hearing today.
Following this event at the High Court, Sabally, took to his Facebook page to celebrate the finality of the case.
“Case closed. Alhamdulillaah.
“Special gratitude and appreciation to my lawyers Abdoulie Fatty and Borry Touray,” he wrote.
In the same post, he waxes rhapsodically with the protest anthem of the Texas Trio, the Dixie Chicks.
“I’m not ready to make nice
I’m not ready to back down
I’m still mad as hell, and I don’t have time
To go ’round and ’round and ’round
It’s too late to make it right
I probably wouldn’t if I could
‘Cause I’m mad as hell
Can’t bring myself to do what it is
You think I should”
Momodou Sabally was arrested in connection to an alleged video that made the rounds on social media suggesting the president will be unseated before the local government elections.
