Sankareh is Gov’t’s spokesperson, confirms Minister Jawo

The communication minister of The Gambia has confirmed the appointment of a veteran Gambia journalists, Ebrima G. Sankareh, as the new Government spokesperson.

Demba Jawo told Kerr Fatou that he has received the appointment letter of Sankareh and he is looking forward to receiving him.

Jawo’s confirmation of Sankareh’s appointment came few hours after the spokesperson of the President, Amie Bojang, denied the appointment.

Bajong told journalists at a State House press conference that she is not aware of an appointment of a government spokesperson.

“Demba Jawo is still the spokesperson of the Government,” she said.

But it appears the President’s spokesperson may not have been informed of the development but Sankareh’s appointment is authentic.
