President Adama Barrow reaffirmed his government’s commitment to implement the Truth, Reconciliation, and Reparations Commission (TRRC) Report during a Stakeholder Conference and Donor Roundtable on the Implementation of the TRRC Recommendations.

“My government is fully committed to ensuring a comprehensive and effective implementation process, and we recognize the importance of working in partnership with all stakeholders within the country and the international community. The task at hand is huge, but we can contain it; however, we must seize every opportunity to address the various aspects of the transitional justice process. Indeed, transformative change calls for a holistic and inclusive approach. Our focus must be on addressing the root causes of the human rights abuses committed in the country and ensuring that such crimes never happen again,” the president said.

He said the process includes strengthening the Country’s democratic institutions, promoting transparency and accountability, and creating an environment wherein human rights are respected and protected.

President Barrow says his Government understands the importance of holding accountable all those responsible for human rights violations, as well as providing reparations and support to the victims.

“We will strive tirelessly to make sure that justice is served and that the rights and dignity of the victims are upheld,” President Barrow said.
