His Excellency President Adama Barrow and entourage on Thursday inspected the ongoing OIC projects.

The site visit was meant for the President and the project team to have first-hand information on the progress and possible any challenges facing the projects.

Speaking to journalists his Excellency President Adama Barrow expressed happiness with the level work at the presidential VVIP lounge and main highway.

“I am happy with the work process at the presidential VVIP lounge and main highway becuse by looking at the work progress at the VVIP lounge they are even ahead of the contract duration. They will finish two months earlier before the said time. The main highway also they are up to 19% which is on schedule.

However, the President expressed disappointment with the level of work at Lot 1 & 2 of the 50-kilometer roads.

He observed that the work progress is “very slow” and thought there is a problem that needs to be addressed.

He said he would call an emergency meeting by 12 :30 on Friday (tomorrow) for all the stakeholders to come together and discuss about the roads for a way forward.

“There is a problem and we have to sit down and discuss about it. So that we can slove the problem because I believe there is no problem without a solution,” he said.

After 7 months, Barrow said the work progress at the 50-kilometer roads projects is less than expected.

“The lot 1&2, we have different contractors but the same consultant. But there is a lot of problems going on which I am not happy with,” he stressed.”

He said the projects are very important to his government and the roads are connected to the OIC, which the OIC technicians would come to inspect the readiness of the projects.

“I am very optimistic that the Gambia will host the OIC summit because the political will and the support is there,” he said.
