Presentation Girls Vacational School graduated 79 students on Friday after their successful completion of different courses of studies.

This year’s graduation held at the school grounds is the 50th graduation and the 50-years anniversary (Golden Jublilee) of the skills centre.  

“Inspiring and empowering young women to become responsible participating citizens and leaders creating opportunities for themselves and others”, was the theme of the event.  

The ceremony was attended by entrepreneurs, government officials, motivational speakers, parents and friends of the graduates.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Mayor of Banjul, Omar B.J. Touray encourages the graduates to work hard so that they can achieve their goals.

“The skills you the graduates are having at the moment is very important and that is what the Gambia needs, so that we can develop the country,” he added.

The Principal of the school, Roseline Sanyang told the graduates that they have moved from where they used to be to another level in terms of skills and knowledge with a wise attitude.

She reminded that life does not stop there and ugred them to keep on learning to the grave, and share with others the skills they gained from the school.

“As this is just the beginning of knowledge, I encouraged you to be more creative in your profession and further learn about your career and never hesitate to come back to school for help,” she said.

Fatou Touray, the CEO of Kerr Fatou, the guest speaker called on the society to give chance to young girls with skill so that the economy of the country can grow.

“I called on the society to give this young girls with skill a chance so that our country’s economy can get to another level, because with skills we can boost the economy of this country,” she said.

Christiana Colley the outgoing head-girl of the school said the skills they acquire are “very useful to them and they will be very proud to present themselves at anywhere as proud products of Presentation Girls Vaccinational School”.

Presentation Girls Vacational School has a vision of inspiring and empowering young women to become responsible participating citizens and leaders creating opportunities for themselves and others.
