Barrow and His Allies Know They Are Losing, Kiang West NAM Declares

Lamin Ceesay, the National Assembly Member for Kiang West, has predicted a decisive victory for the United Democratic Party (UDP) in December’s presidential election, claiming that President Adama Barrow is losing political ground and is aware of his declining electoral prospects.
Speaking on Kerr Fatou on Tuesday, Ceesay expressed confidence in the UDP’s campaign, describing its growing grassroots mobilization as a formidable challenge to the president’s re-election bid.
The lawmaker characterized the party’s campaign as “very dangerous,” arguing that its expanding support across the country has significantly weakened President Barrow’s political standing.
He pointed to what he described as growing opposition gains in the Upper River Region, Central River Region, and Jokadou, traditionally important political battlegrounds, as evidence of the ruling party’s diminishing influence.
Ceesay also accused the president’s political allies of employing psychological tactics to project an image of electoral strength despite what he claimed were signs of an impending defeat.
“The ruling camp is engaged in psychological tactics aimed at creating an impression that President Barrow will win in order to scare opposition supporters,” he said.
He urged opposition supporters to disregard such narratives and remain confident in the UDP’s electoral prospects.
The Kiang West legislator went further, claiming that President Barrow himself recognizes the growing threat to his re-election bid.
According to Ceesay, the president’s recent Meet-the-People Tour offered indications of his weakening political position, insisting that both Barrow and his closest allies are aware of the challenges confronting his campaign.
Ceesay maintained that the UDP’s growing momentum would make it increasingly difficult for President Barrow to secure another term in office.
