Gambian Allegedly Arrested By Senegalese Soldiers

The National Assembly Member for Foni Bintang, Bakary K. Badjie has said that one Lamin Sanyang from Foni Bitta has been “arrested” by Senegalese Soldiers on Sunday.

“The people of Bitta village in Foni have just reported to me that one of their man went to a village in the borderline called Nyangbolong to bring his donkey. He was arrested by the Senegalese Soldiers and categorised as a rebel. Untill as I speak to you right now, he is yet to be released. He was arrested yesterday (Saturday),” Hon. Bakary K. Badjie told Kerr Fatou.

As part of their missions of securing the people and their property, the army on 13th  March 2022 launched an operation with the objective of dismantling the bases of the MFDC (Movement of Democratic Forces of Casamance) faction of Salif Sadio located along the Northern border with The Gambia.

This operation also aims to destroy all armed gangs conducting criminal activities in the area.

The Senegalese army could not be reached for comment.
