Police in The Gambia have recently arrested 117 suspected criminals including 3 females at various ‘criminal hideouts’ within the Greater Banjul Area.

Of the 117, 15 have been arrested in Banjul, 75 in Kanifing Municipality and 27 in the West Coast Region.

“They were arrested in connection to several offenses including going armed in public, assault causing actual bodily harm, possession of suspected drugs, possession of suspected stolen properties, idle and disorderly manners, and attempt to commit felony among others,” said Poliso Magazine.

It added that suspects are being processed for court actions.

This followed the recent institution of ‘Operation Zero Crime’ by the police. The objective of the operation is to tackle crime and criminal activities within communities, and dismantle all criminal hideouts, as well as prosecute offenders in accordance with the Law, according to the police.
