Minister Bah Holds Final Engagement In U.K

Hon. Hamat Bah, Minister of Tourism and Culture has held his final engagement in the U.K with the speaker of the U.K. House of Commons, Hon. Sir Lindsay Hoyle, a statement by The Gambia High Commission in London stated. 

During his discussion with the speaker of the U.K. House of Commons; Minister Hamat Bah highlighted the possibility for the U.K Parliament to work closely with The Gambia’s National Assembly, ‘to help in capacity building and training towards deeper understanding of more oversight functions’, the statement released today added.

“The Gambia is working on restocking its wildlife, and thus, increasing the variety of animals in zoos, and request that the U.K with more wildlife variety assist in that endeavour,” the Tourism Minister said in the statement.

On the other hand, the U.K. Speaker, Hon. Hoyle expressed gratitude to the visit by Hon. Bah, and recommended the creation of U.K-Gambia parliamentary partnership, which can cater for exchange programmes and capacity building, said the statement. 

Hon. Hoyle also expressed interest in the wildlife reserves in The Gambia, saying “efforts can be made to link The Gambia’s Ministry of Tourism with zoos across the U.K. to build connections”, it concluded.

Minister Bah, on 17th September travelled to the United Kingdom as the Gambia Government representative at the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

As part of his representation, Hamat visited Westminster Hall to see the Queen Lying in State, signed the Royal Book of Condolences, and attended the State Funeral Service on Monday.
