Molly Cham, the Youth Coordinator for the Sanementereng Constituency under the National People’s Party (NPP), has officially resigned from his position and the party, effective Saturday, June 28, 2025.
“I have decided to sincerely resign as the NPP youth coordinator for Sanementereng constituency with effect today Saturday the 28″ day of June, 2025. The position I have served diligentiy for the past three (3) years with no support from the party,” Cham stated.
In his resignation, Cham cited a lack of confidence in both the NPP and the current government as the primary reason for his decision.
“It could be recalled that the Gambian electorates went to the poll in 2016, to change the Jammeh regime, and put in place a government that will build strong institutions that are going to promote economic growth, empower youths and women, fight corruption etc, but on the contrary this is a complete different from what is happening in the country. As a genuine Gambian youth I decided to resign from my position and join a revolution to get the country from the unpatriotic,” he explained.
Cham’s resignation marks the second high-profile departure from the NPP within a week. Earlier, Nuha Ndong, the party’s Youth Coordinator for Pirang Ward, also announced his resignation.
