Modou Ceesay New Auditor General Of The Gambia

Mr. Modou Ceesay has been appointed Auditor General of the National Audit Office of the Gambia.
In an announcement posted on their Facebook page on Thursday, November 17, 2022, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs (MoFEA), his previous employer, acknowledged the appointment.
“The Director General of Internal Audit under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr. Modou Ceesay has been appointed as the Auditor General of the National Audit Office. This information reached us on the 16th of Nov. 2022,”
The announcement touched on the various positions and relevant experience Mr. Ceesay garnered, prior to his most recent appointment as Auditor General.
“Mr. Ceesay is a finance, audit & risk management professional. Until his appointment as Auditor General, he was the Chief Audit Executive for the government of The Gambia, providing leadership to the internal audit, risk management, and wider governance issues.
Mr. Ceesay has over 11 years of experience working in the finance departments, accounting, financial reporting, internal audit, risk management, business improvement, and governance fields.”
The new Auditor General, Modou Ceesay, replaces Mr. Karamba Touray who is retiring on the 25th of November 2022. Mr. Touray served as Auditor General for 9 years.
