Mama Kandeh: Our Country Has No Security
By Buba Gagigo
The Secretary General and leader of opposition Gambia Democratic Congress [GDC] party, Mama Kandeh has said that The Gambia has no security while calling on the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Defence, the Inspector General of Police [IGP] and Director General of National Intelligence Agency [NIA] to help secure the country.
The GDC leader made these remarks at his party’s headquarters in Kololi on Monday when two women groups in the settlement adopted him as honorary father.
“I am calling on the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Defence, Police IGP, and the Director of Intelligence. The reason I’m calling [on] them is about our country. The Gambia has [been] destroyed. Our country has no security. No Gambian can sleep today. We don’t have any safe place, even our children we cannot send them. The crime rate is too much in the Gambia, the Killings are too much in the Gambia and we have never seen these in The Gambia.”
The GDC leader said that President Adama Barrow has failed and that is the reason he called on the said ministers and security chiefs to help with the country’s security, ‘even the security themselves are not secured’.
“The reason I called these people and I did not call Adama Barrow is because he [Barrow] has failed. Let’s never wait for Adama Barrow. Let’s take our security personal, and spread them in the country. Let’s not wait for him because he has failed. They are employed to serve us. So then let them [not] wait for the President. But we don’t expect Adama Barrow to fail and they also failed together with him. Let them remember they are Gambians. Even the security themselves are not secured.”
Mama Kandeh is the Secretary General and Party leader of opposition Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC).
