Magistrate Joof Orders Murder Suspect Sey Be Remanded At Mile 2
Presiding Magistrate Sainey Joof of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court has recently ordered for Gana Sey, a Senegalese, suspected of killing Gibril Ceesay in Sanyang be remanded at Mile 2 prison, awaiting his next court attendance, The Standard Newspaper reported.
The development came after the suspect was arraigned and charged with a single count of murder, a charge he [suspect] denied; which prompted the police prosecutor Superintendent Camara’s application for the case to be transferred to the Special Criminal Division of the High Court in Banjul, while urging the court to remand the accused since the offence attracts life imprisonment, said the paper.
“Magistrate Joof granted the application and subsequently transferred the matter to the High Court and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Mile 2 pending his appearance at the high court,” the Bakau based newspaper published on Friday.
