Isatou Auber Faal gets top appointment at OACP Secretariat

In the capacity of the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Honourable Mambury Njie as the current President of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of African, Caribbean, and the Pacific States, the Ministry wishes to inform the general public of the appointment of Mrs. Isatou Auber Faal as the Assistant Secretary-General, in charge of Finance, Administration, and Human Resources of the intergovernmental organization.
In her new role as the Assistant Secretary-General, Mrs. Auber, who has extensive high-level experience in the civil service of the country, including serving as Secretary to the Cabinet, will be responsible for the core department of the institution. She will manage the overall budget and financial activities, oversee the daily operations and running of the Secretariat as well as the effective management of personnel.
‘’The appointment is a testament that Gambians can serve at any level globally, and as the current Chair of the Council of Ministers of the organization, I am very elated to see a Gambian served in such a distinguished and strategic role at one of the largest intergovernmental governments,’’ said Minister Njie, who is a Columbia University-trained economist and international affairs specialist.
‘‘It was a competitive process and a well-deserved appointment. I know she will perform up to expectations and be a good ambassador for the country. I wish her all the best in the fulfillment of her high mission as well as thank President Barrow for endorsing her candidature.’’
Mrs. Isatou Auber Faal has worked in human resource management, public finance, and administration for more than 25 years, with vast experience in the public and private sectors of the country. Until her new appointment, she was the Deputy Director-General of the Gambia National Petroleum Corporation. She also served as Permanent Secretary at the Office of the President and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and Finance and Economic Affairs. As Permanent Secretary, she served as Board Member of the Gambia National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Gambia International Airlines (GIA), Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA), and National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC).
Mrs. Auber Faal holds an MA. Degree in Human Resources from the University of Derby in the United Kingdom and a BSc. Degree in Sociology from the University of Ottawa in Canada.
