The Ministry of Petroleum, Energy, and Mines has announced an increase in retail fuel prices for August 2026, reversing the reductions introduced in July following a rise in international fuel costs.
In a statement issued on 1 August 2026, the ministry said the adjustment was made after its monthly fuel price review, which found that international reference prices for refined petroleum products had increased during the current pricing cycle.
Under the revised pricing structure, the pump price of petrol has increased from D101.10 to D104.18 per litre. Diesel has risen from D113.52 to D116.63 per litre, while kerosene has increased from D95.54 to D99.62 per litre.
According to the ministry, the monthly review is conducted under the government’s petroleum pricing framework, which considers international refined petroleum product prices, import costs, exchange rates, statutory taxes and levies, as well as other relevant pricing components.
The ministry said it will continue to monitor developments in the global oil market and broader economic conditions, adding that future fuel price adjustments will be made in line with the established pricing mechanism.
