The National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC), on Tuesday, passed resolutions regarding PKF’s refusal to attend its session.

The resolution came after PKF, who are the independent auditors for GIEPA, failed to appear before the committee to consider GIEPA’s activity report and financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2020.

Despite a 90-minute recess granted for further consultation, the independent auditors from PKF did not present themselves before the committee. Acting on behalf of the chairman, Kebba Lang Fofana, a committee member, revealed that the Committee had approached the Office of the Auditor General regarding PKF’s blatant disregard for the committee’s and GIEPA’s summonses to attend the session.

The committee unanimously resolved that all contracts awarded to PKF by the NAO be canceled forthwith and that PKF be blacklisted from being awarded government contracts. PKF must attend and present all the reports of the institutions currently audited by them to the National Assembly. Failure to appear before the committee will be tantamount to contempt of the National Assembly as per section 110 of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia.

“The Committee unanimously resolved on the following that moving forward all contracts awarded to the PKF by the NAO be canceled forthwith, that PKF be blacklisted from being awarded government contracts.

“PKF must attend and present all the reports of the institutions currently audited by them to the National Assembly, failure to appear before the Committee will be tantamount to Contempt of the National Assembly as per section 110 of the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia,” he said.
