Hon. Omar Ceesay, Former National Assembly Member for Niamina East Constituency, has voiced his criticism against President Barrow’s administration for procuring loans to acquire 87 vehicles solely for the OIC summit.
“What Next For The OIC 87 Luxurious Vehicles On Loan?” he asked.
The former Niamina East Constituency National Assembly Member denounced the government’s decision to borrow such high-priced vehicles exclusively for the two-day OIC event, labeling it as the pinnacle of Barrow’s misalignment of national priorities and disregard for fiscal prudence.
“Moreover, with the economic situation and unbearable financial debt burden of the country, the government should have realized the need to rent the said vehicles instead of borrowing them. I am not disputing the need to provide the necessary logistics and paraphilia required in preparation for the OIC Banjul Summit, But it’s sincerely unnecessary to loan 87 luxurious vehicles, which would further increase the national debt burden and cripple the economy of the country.” Ceesay said.
He stressed that the government’s actions appear to be aimed at impressing external parties at the expense of entangling the nation in a precarious financial predicament.
Espace Motors fronted the pre-financing for 87 vehicles for the government’s use during the recently concluded Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit.
