Police in the Kanifing Municipality have arrested a man for reportedly having carnal knowledge of his biological daughter; Kerr Fatou was reliably informed.
The suspect, at the time of putting together this report, was detained at the Bundung Police Station as investigations into the matter continues.
A source that spoke to our reporter on the condition of anonymity has said that the victim was a teenage “girl of 15 years”, living together in the same house with her father somewhere within the Kanifing Municipality. The girl was said to be the oldest among her father’s four children.
The spokesperson of the Gambia Police Force (GPF), Lamin Njie, has confirmed the arrest and detention of the suspect, revealing also the Police’s ongoing investigation into the matter, seeking to the determine the girl’s actual age.
According to him, although family members have claimed the girl’s age to be 15, however “medical examination” has yet to “substantiate” that.
The Police are also investigating whether the girl could be a victim of rape.
