The group calling itself the Coalition Taskforce Mediation Committee (CTMC) has concluded its fourth strategic session, adopting a two-month activity calendar and ratifying its Terms of Reference as opposition parties intensify efforts to form a united front ahead of the December 2026 presidential election.

In a press statement, the committee said the session was held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at a hotel in Senegambia and hosted by the All People’s Party (APP). The meeting brought together representatives from political parties and movements, including several groups participating in the process for the first time.

In a release issued on Sunday, May 10, 2026, CTMC Chairman Professor Yerro Mballow reiterated the committee’s neutral role, emphasizing its focus on facilitating consensus around a single opposition candidate and a shared policy platform.

“Our mandate is to partner with political leaders and movements to build a credible, rules-based coalition,” Prof. Mballow said.

According to the statement, the committee endorsed a comprehensive roadmap that includes the development of a binding Code of Conduct, a five-point common agenda, the Kairaba 2.0 Charter, a seat-sharing formula, the establishment of a dispute resolution tribunal, and a mechanism for selecting a flagbearer.

The statement further noted that members reviewed and ratified the CTMC’s Terms of Reference, adopted a two-month calendar of activities, and agreed on a process for selecting a fundraising committee to support its operations.

Minutes of the previous session were presented by Secretary General Ebrima S. Bah and unanimously adopted.

Host remarks were delivered by APP Sobeyaa Secretary General and Party Leader Essa Mbye Faal, who reaffirmed his party’s commitment to “a principled and united opposition process.”

The CTMC also announced that its fifth strategic session is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Baobab Hotel in Bijilo. The session will be hosted by a civic movement to be named by the Secretariat.

Reaffirming its position, the committee stated: “The CTMC is a neutral facilitation platform. It does not endorse parties or candidates. Its sole mandate is to mediate a transparent, rules-based process toward one opposition flagbearer and a costed Common Agenda for December 2026.”
