The President of the Republic of the Gambia and the Leader of the National People’s Party (NPP), Adama Barrow, has been accused of interfering in the election of his Party’s National Executive.

“The President is interfering in our congress big time. He is interfering with some of the candidates contesting for the Party’s Executive positions. He is calling some of the candidates to withdraw. The President is in Statehouse calling them to withdraw. We the delegates are not happy about that. Things are very tense here right now,” a source revealed to Kerr Fatou.

Our source further reveals that they cannot nominate candidates much less start the voting process.

Our source said “It is now after 2 pm still nomination process has not started.”

“Some of the candidates even went into hiding because they don’t want the President to call them. He is the President and maybe if he calls some of the candidates they won’t be able to say no to him. The people here are not happy with the President’s decision. Right now we don’t know how the congress will end. Because the candidates that the delegates want are not the President’s favorite. So Congress might end in chaos the way things are right now,” our source revealed.

Our reporter on the ground would bring you the latest development from the National People’s Party’s First ever National Congress.
