Another Covid-19 case confirmed in Bakau

The Ministry of Health has said a new laboratory confirmed case has been recorded in The Gambia from the mass sample collected in Bakau.
The Gambia has recorded a total number 18 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
The acting director of Health Services, Dr. Mustapha Bittaye who was today (Thursday) during the ministry of health daily covid-19 briefing held in Banjul.
The latest confirmed case is a 50-yyear-old old Senegalese who got the disease through community transmission.
Dr. Bittaye also releveled that another probable case also been recorded.
He added that both the newly confirmed and the probable test results are results of sample collected from the mass screening held in Bakau, adding that the confirmed case manifests symptoms similar to those of covid-19, the probable case is asymptomatic.
According to him, whereas the probable case is linked to the 12th case, noting that the linkage of the newly confirmed case to any of the previous confirmed cases is yet to be established.
“Out of a total of 194 test results received, 192 tested negative, 1 was inconclusive and 1 tested positive for covid-19. The country currently has 101 persons under quarantine, 8 active cases and three probable cases.”
Dr. Bittayye noted that whereas five persons were newly taken into quarantine (two from CRR and three close contacts of the 12th case), one individual was discharged after testing negative for covid-19 upon completion of the mandatory quarantine period.
