Rural Development Institute Graduates 50 Students

Rural Development Institute has graduated a total of 50 students from its Certificate and Diploma programmes in integral rural development .

In his speech at the occasion, the Principal, Alasana Minteh congratulated the graduands, and advised them to be guided by discipline, respect and kindness on their new journey of life.

He took the occasion as an opportunity to highlight some challenges his institution grapples with. Key among them includes inadequate human resources, as well as dilapidated dormitories and toilet facilities.

On inadequate human resources, Minteh said RDI currently has only three lecturers, which has posted a lot of challenges on them. He called on the Director of the Department of Community Development to address the challenge. And he also encouraged people with the qualification to serve the institute.

President of the Students’ Union, Seedy Manneh, urged his colleagues to make best use of the knowledge gained during their studies; saying to whom much is given, much is expected.

Certificates and awards have been presented to deserving graduands. Ebrima Jallow, a native of Penyem in the West Coast Region got the Best Practical Student award; and Modou Lamin Jobarteh got The Best Academic and The Most Discipline Student award.

The event which was held on 6th March in Mansa Konko in the Lower River Region, was graced by the Governor of the region; Chairperson of Mansa Konko Area Council; Director of Department of Community Development (DCD;  among others.

The Rural Development Institute (RDI) situated in Mansa Konko has been in existence for over four decades and has graduated thousands of people who are performing better in the workforce of the country. Some are now directors and others are holding high positions in the workforce.
