Seedy Njie, deputy spokesperson of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP), has asserted that the party has effectively secured victory in the upcoming December 5 presidential election, stating that its current focus is on increasing its share of the vote to at least 75 percent.
Njie made these remarks during a political rally with residents of Sambuya village in Kombo South. The event was attended by several notable figures, including the president’s nephew, Amadou Sanneh, and the Minister of Petroleum, Energy, and Mines, Nani Juwara. As part of the outreach, villagers received items such as cooking pots, football jerseys, and footballs.
Addressing the gathering, Njie credited President Adama Barrow with delivering what he described as unprecedented development across communities nationwide.
He urged residents of Sambuya to register to vote, emphasizing that broad participation would enable the president to continue implementing his development agenda.
“For President Barrow to sustain the progress achieved, every eligible resident of Sambuya must obtain a voter’s card,” Njie said.
He further stated that re-electing President Barrow would ensure the continuation of infrastructure and social development projects, including improvements in roads, electricity, water supply, and education, while maintaining democratic stability.
“He has provided stability and strengthened democracy, and this must be sustained for a stronger economy,” he added.
With the December 5, 2026, presidential election approaching, political parties and affiliated groups have intensified grassroots engagement efforts, including participation in community events such as football tournaments, as part of broader strategies to mobilize support and promote their policy platforms.
