The Attorney General’s office now accuses Manjang of murder, conspiracy, assault, and acts of brutal torture. The amended indictment includes the following charges:

  • Count 1: Murder – Allegedly causing the death of Kajali Jammeh (alias “Le Cock”) in 2006 at Kanilai by cutting his neck with a knife, contrary to Section 187 of the Criminal Code.
  • Count 2: Murder – Allegedly causing the death of Samba Wurry in 2006 at Kanilai by stabbing him in the chest, also under Section 187.
  • Count 3: Conspiracy to Commit Misdemeanor—Allegedly conspiring in March 2006 at NIA premises to inflict bodily harm on Tamsir Jasseh, contrary to Section 360.
  • Count 4: Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm—Allegedly assaulting Tamsir Jasseh at NIA through beatings and kicks, resulting in serious injuries, under Section 228.
  • Count 5: Conspiracy to Commit Misdemeanor—Allegedly conspiring in March 2006 to cause bodily harm to military officer Yahya M.S. Darboe, contrary to Section 369.
  • Count 6: Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm—Allegedly beating Yahya M.S. Darboe with sticks, pouring hot melted plastic on him, and suspending him in a tied sack, causing severe injuries, under Section 228.

Eight witnesses have been listed to testify against Manjang. Ensa Keita is expected to recount observing the killings of Kajali Jammeh and Samba Wurry at Kanilai. Tamsir Jasseh and Yahya M.S. Darboe will testify to being detained and subjected to repeated beatings by Manjang and associates at the NIA following arrests linked to the 2006 Ndure Cham coup attempt.

Additional witnesses include Babou Janha, former driver for Colonel Ndure Cham, who is expected to describe torture inflicted at NIA and observed injuries on detainees; Lamin Fadera, a Mile 2 prison officer, who will testify on the transfer of prisoners with visible injuries; Jally M.J. Senghore, an investigating officer, detailing investigations into extrajudicial killings; SI Sowe, a police investigator, who will recount Manjang’s formal cautioning and exercise of his right to remain silent; and Mustapha Jammeh, a crime scene investigator, who will provide evidence identifying Kanilai premises used as a detention centre.

Sanna Manjang now faces six serious counts that carry severe legal consequences, with proceedings set to continue before Justice Jobarteh.
