Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang said the coalition which many analysts said has disintegrated remains intact even though the President has fired nearly all his partners.
The chair of the Coalition 2016, Fatoumatta Jallow Tambajang, has described as a “concern” to them the sacking of the coalition partners by President Adama Barrow.
Jallow made the statement in an interview with journalists as the crunch Coalition talks enters its second day at Kairaba Hotel on Monday.
“The removal of the coalition members is of concern to us and we are going to discuss it with him…,” said Jallow.
She said they are planning to meet President Barrow on Thursday after they have already reviewed their coalition agenda.
Among the issues they will look at is whether the president should serve for three years as stated in the coalition agreement or five years as stated in the constitution.
However, President Barrow has already made it clear that he does not need to consult the Coalition on whether he will stay for three or five years.
He was also recently quoted in the media saying no one can force him out of power before 2021. Meanwhile, the People Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism have contacted the conveners of the crunch talks to leave them out of their discussion.
All parties are being represented at the crunch talks which seeks to review the coalition agenda, according to organisers, but the PDOIS chose to stay away since it started on Saturday.
