The Gambia Government has declined to take any questions from the press during a press briefing held at the Headquarters of the Gambia Armed Forces to update the public on the alleged attempted coup d’etat in the Gambia on Thursday.

“Due to the sensitive nature of the ongoing investigations, this will be all that will be shared today to not compromise the process, and any future course of actions and no questions can also be entertained,” the National Security Adviser Abubakarr Suleiman Jeng said immediately after reading the press statement.

On Tuesday, 20 December 2022, The Gambia Government announced a foiled coup plot, which led to the immediate arrest by the Gambia Armed Forces of five (5) members of the force allegedly linked to the reported coup. The Gambia government is yet to entertain any questions regarding the issue.
