President, Foundation Against Trafficking and Irregular Migrations

The Foundation Against Trafficking and Irregular Migrations (FATIM) in collaboration with the Victims‘ Families have announced the return of the first batch of Gambian migrants from Oman.
“This is to inform the general public that today the 13th June 2022 we have the first batch of returnees from the Middle East in a country called (Oman) were our youths, mostly girls where trafficked for domestic work upon arrivals, they were exposed to hard labor and some of them sexual harassment, however was not all of them. The hard labor imposed on them without enough rest caused health complications for most of them. Their return was facilitated and fully funded by the Foundation Against Trafficking and Irregular Migrations (FATIM) in collaboration with the Victims’ Families,” FATIM said in a statement dated 13th June 2022.
The statement added that girls came via Senegal as the foundation is “too young” and was not able to facilitate their journey via The Gambia because “there was no Support from no one including government and the foundation has reached out to them for support to no avail”.
“We are working tirelessly for the repatriation of the remaining badge but we cannot disclose it at the moment hence we are struggling with financial constraint, therefore we are soliciting for the support of the general public to help donate the rest,” the statement concluded.
