The Ministry of Youth and Sports has pledged over D940,000 to bolster basketball development in The Gambia.
This amount includes D441,000 for the revitalization of the national basketball league and D500,000 to support the U21 national team’s participation in the ongoing Amilcar Cabral Zone II tournament in Guinea Bissau.
“The Ministry of Youth & Sports, following a thorough assessment meeting with the Executive of the Gambia Basketball Association (GBA), agreed to provide a grant of D441,000 to support the revitalization and strengthening of the basketball league in The Gambia,” the ministry announced through their Facebook page.
According to the Ministry, the decision was made following a meeting between Hon. Minister Bakary Y. Badjie and the GBA Executive, where they discussed strategies for reviving the sport and restoring it to its former glory.
