President Barrow pays condolences to family of Sheikh Sedia Ceesay
Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, has learned with deep sadness the death of Sheikh Sedia Ceesay, a renowned Imam and Islamic scholar in The Gambia.
On behalf of the government and the people of the Republic of The Gambia, President Adama Barrow would like to convey heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, both in The Gambia and abroad, the presidency said on Thursday.
“The President prays for Allah Subhana-wa taa’la to grant him eternal bliss in Jannatul Firdawsi,” said a statement from the presidency.
A government delegation led by the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Honorable Hamat Bah, attended the funeral to personally pay his the president’s condolences to the family.
Mr Ceesay passed away on Wednesday.
Sheikh Sidia Ceesay, a native of Jarra Barrow Kunda, was a leading Islamic scholar at the Talinding Islamic Institute and a member of the Supreme Islamic Council. He was the host of Islamic Forum on GRTS radio.
