His Excellency, President Adama Barrow on Saturday, February 18th, 2023, during his Independence Celebration speech in Banjul, described 2022 as “a challenging year” for his government.
“2022 was a challenging year it confronted us with rising living costs and hiking prices of fuel influenced by the global crisis. This reduced the ability of households to fulfill their basic needs and responsibilities. Conscious of the responsibilities of the state and to deliver on our promises to stabilize prices. My government will strive to ease the temporary hardship impression on the people,” President Barrow promised.
President Barrow said his government took various steps to lower the price of fuel which has implications for business transactions and the price of commodities.
“We will continue to monitor the public institutions and work with the private sector to maximize their contributions to national development and to improve living standards in the country,” He said.
