Nenneh Cheyassin Kebbeh, vice presidential candidate of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), has urged Gambians to critically assess their living conditions as the country approaches the 2026 presidential elections.

Speaking in an interview with West Coast Radio, Kebbeh encouraged citizens to reflect on whether their quality of life has improved in recent years and to use that assessment as a basis for making informed electoral decisions.

“For me, my approach is if you believe your life is better off today than it was ten years ago, I don’t need to convince you to vote for Barrow,” she said. “But if you know today you cannot put food on your table or are facing difficulties paying school fees for your children, then don’t vote Barrow,” she said.

Kebbeh highlighted economic hardship as a pressing issue affecting many households, emphasizing that voters should prioritize their basic needs when heading to the polls.

“If you know that your basic human needs are not being met, don’t vote Barrow; vote for an alternative, and PPP is that alternative,” she stated.

She also criticized the current administration’s approach to governance and media, alleging that decision-making is highly centralized.

“I think President Barrow is becoming Jammeh. Everything goes through our president; things don’t happen blindly. He uses these ministers, and he puts people in place so they take the fall, but he is the one in control,” she said.

Kebbeh concluded by urging voters to look beyond political rhetoric and focus on their personal realities.

“I want the average Gambian to honestly look at their lives today and tell me that their lives are better off today than they were ten years ago. And the answer is no,” she said.
