Musa Drammeh, Minister of Fisheries, Water Resources, and National Assembly Matters, has said the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) remains unshaken by attempts at opposition unity, predicting that several opposition leaders will defect to the party following the December 5 presidential election.

Speaking at an NPP gathering in Yuna, Drammeh expressed confidence in the party’s preparedness for the upcoming polls, describing the 2021 election as merely a precursor to what he considers the “real contest” this year.

“There are many parties, and there is too much talk without substance. They are moving around trying to mislead the public,” he said.

Drammeh asserted that Adama Barrow has fulfilled key development demands of Gambians, citing progress in infrastructure and social services, including roads, electricity, healthcare, water supply, and education. He emphasized that citizens themselves can attest to these achievements.

He urged voters to renew President Barrow’s mandate to enable the continuation of ongoing and planned development initiatives.

The minister further criticized the opposition, claiming it lacks viable alternatives and is primarily focused on accusing the government despite its record of delivery.

According to Drammeh, the NPP’s campaign strategy will prioritize highlighting its achievements and future plans rather than engaging in insults or negative rhetoric. He added that the party continues to grow steadily, with increasing numbers of members defecting from opposition groups.
