Kanifing Municipality To Get Address Boards Effective Next Week
The Ministry of Information and Communication Infrastructure [MoICI] and Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) would fix Address Boards on every property in Kanifing Municipality, effective 20th September.
“This Address Boards Fixing exercise is expected to start on the week of 20th September, 2021; and during this exercise, the implementation team setup by MoICI will fix the address boards (tags) at every property within the Kanifing Municipality, including but not limited to residents, businesses and other landmarks,” the Ministry of Information and Communication Infrastructure said in a statement on Monday.
The statement added the proposed address boards fixing followed the completion of the first phase of its Digital Addressing solution [Google Plus Codes], which is the Plus Codes Addressing [PCA] stage.
According to the statement, the project would strengthen postal services, boost security, ambulance and health services and transform business structures of the municipality, among other benefits.
“This Project upon completion, is expected to provide lots of benefits to the community of Kanifing Municipality (KM), including strengthening postal services, boost security, ambulance and health services and also transform business structures by giving rise to new businesses (e-commerce, taxi-services, fleet management, smart city and intelligent transportation etc.). This innovation will at the same time create more job opportunities and generate more income/revenue for people and businesses within the country,” it said.
The Ministry solicits all property owners within the Kanifing Municipality (KM), to cooperate with the implementation team and allow them to fix the Address Boards [Tags] at their appropriate places.
