The Justice Minister Abubacarr Tambadou has tabled a bill seeking to establish an anti-corruption commission before lawmakers on Tuesday.

The bill is forwarded to the committees of the lawmaking body for proper scrutiny. The Committees will report back to the plenary not later than 16 weeks.

Minister Tambadou said the country needs a law that will help to combat corruption.

Tambadou said the bill entails provisions that protect whistleblowers who give information to the anti-corruption commission.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing Central Badibu, Sulaiman Saho, welcomed the bill but added that the country must have a leadership dedicated to fighting corruption.

Another important bill the minister is expected to table before lawmakers is an access to information bill.
