The independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on Monday began the replacement of lost, mutilated and damaged voters’ cards for D200.

The exercise is scheduled to last until 27th March 2022, ahead of the 9th April parliamentary election.

“I write to inform you that the Independent Electoral Commission shall conduct replacement of voters’ cards from 21st to 27th March 2022 for lost, mutilated and damaged voters’ cards at a fee of D200 per replacement,” the commission announced on Monday evening.

The statement added that the replacement of the cards shall be done at its regional offices in Banjul, Kanifing, Bnkama, Kerewan, Mansakonko, Janjanbureh and Basse.

The commission clarified that no new voters’ cards would be issued during the period but only lost, mutilated and damaged cards that were acquired during the 2021 general voter registration would be replaced, upon request by the holder(s).
