Gov’t Accepts To ‘Prosecute and Ban’ Gorgi Mboob For 5-years
By Buba Gagigo
The Government has accepted the Truth Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) recommendation to ‘prosecute and ban’ Gorgi Mboob, the commander of the Anti-Crime Unit of Gambia Police Force from holding public office for five years.
“The Government accepts the recommendation of the Commission (to)…
“Prosecute Gorgui Mboob for the assault and injury of Ousman Sabally; Ban Gorgui Mboob from holding public office for five (5) years,” an excerpt of the White Paper stated.
The Government also accepts the recommendation of the Commission to subject all those who were with Gorgui Mboob at St. Augustine’s High School, including Modou Lamin Fatty, Abdoulie Bah, Modaou Cham and Modou Gajaga to internal disciplinary mechanisms if they are still occupying public office.
The development conveyed in the Gov’t White released today, followed the TRRC Commission conclusion that Gorgui Mboob and other state agents conspired to cover-up the full extent of the Police actions by giving false testimonies, concealing evidence, and fabricating evidence at the Commission of Inquiry into Public Disturbances of 10 and 11 April 2000 to mislead the Commission.
