The former Speaker of the National Assembly and strong supporter of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) has urged the supporters of the party to follow Fabakary Tombong Jatta.
“I am urging all of you APRC supporters to listen and follow Fabakary Tombong Jatta, he is a noble person if he knows how many people are praying for him today. If he wakes up tomorrow he will know he is even stronger today than yesterday. So Fabakary we are with you until the eternal, the Alliance we signed with NPP will continue. So sir we are behind you through thick and thin and we will come out with all the legalities on this matter. You are our leader, and you are the only one who can say something and we accept it. For Yahya Jammeh, we are going to respect him because he was our leader. We will celebrate him but now he has removed himself from the APRC. So he has no voice in APRC and he will not say anything in APRC. We are the ones who said that and let him know that from now on,” Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay told APRC supporters.
She said the APRC Constitution gives power to only Fabakary Tombong Jatta as the party chairman and leader to appoint or dismiss anyone without congress or executive meeting.
“About the APRC Constitution, We are the ones who sat down in Yundum in an ordinary Congress. I’m sure a lot of people here won’t remember the date. But Fabakary Tombong Jatta was there, Yankuba Colley was there, and many other people were there. We all agreed that the Secretary-General and Party leader is the only person who has the power to appoint or dismiss anyone from the APRC party without going to Congress or executive meeting with the party members. You all know what happened in 2018 even though I was not here then, but I know what the IEC said and most of you can remember it. So today, Fabakary Tombong Jatta is the party leader. He is the Chairman and he is the only one who has the power to appoint or dismiss anyone from the APRC. We are the APRC because that’s what is in the laws of the IEC. We are the ones in the Attorney General red seal books. So all those talking out there are not APRC,” Jahumpa Ceesay added.
The Former Speaker of the National Assembly under Yahya Jammeh government said there is only one APRC in the Gambia, which is led by Fabakary Tombong Jatta.
“If you have a father that you love so much who cannot breastfeed himself and you are the one who breastfeeds him, if your father asks you to stop doing all that for him you should be happy and grateful for that. I have switched-off my phones because everyone knows me in APRC, everyone knows my loyalty to Fabakary Tombong Jatta. We should know that there is one APRC because APRC has a constitution. Let no one quarrel or fight with anyone about this issue,” FJC advised.
Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay, fondly referred to as FJC made these remarks at Fabakary Tombong Jatta’s compound in Tallinding; shortly after former President Yahya Jammeh in a telephone call with some a faction of APRC supporters opposed to the alliance with the NPP dissolved Tombong Jatta led executive and constituted a new one on grounds that the former did not get his approval to align with President Barrow’s NPP
