Five Candidates Withdraw From Saturday’s Election

IEC confirmed to this medium that Two-hundred and forty-six candidates would now contest in Saturday’s parliamentary election, following the withdrawal of 5 candidates.

Mustapha S Cham, the PDOIS candidate for Lower Saloum constituency, Selou Bah, independent candidate for Upper Saloum constituency, and Malick Jassey, independent candidate for Lower Saloum constituency in the Janjanbureh Administrative Area, all withdrew from contesting.

Similarly, one independent candidate in the Kanifing Administrative Area, and another in the Mansakonko Administrative Area too, have also withdrawn from the race.

Meanwhile, the IEC returning officers in their respective Administrative Areas have accepted their withdrawals from the race.
