First Lady bids farewell to 5 scholarship awardees

The First Lady Fatoumatta-Bah Barrow has bade farewell to five school children who were selected to study in Oweri, Imo State, Nigeria, through the support of Rochas Foundation.

The children, four boys and a girl are between the ages of 13 and 15, and they would have the opportunity to get a free and quality education at Rochas Foundation College of Africa, from secondary to undergraduate levels.

The First lady, during her visit to Nigeria, used the opportunity to gather first-hand information and experience of the college and interact with students, staff and management.

“I advised them to make good use of the opportunity by becoming good ambassadors for The Gambia, showing discipline and striving hard for excellence,” she said after her farewell meeting with the children who were accompanied to her office by their parents.

They have currently arrived in Oweri State safe, and were warmly received at the airport by a delegation of staff and students of the Rochas Foundation College.

The management promised that the college would mwork to transform their vision into realities, so that the students can become worthy sons and daughters of Africa by the time they graduate from the College.

“I wish to convey sincere gratitude and appreciation to Rochas Foundation for the partnership and support. Each year, five students from The Gambia get awarded scholarships through this partnership,” the First Lady said.
