Fatal Accident in Kiang Nemakuta: Six Dead, Thirteen Critically Injured

Police have confirmed a devastating accident in Kiang Nemakuta, resulting in six fatalities and thirteen critically injured individuals.
According to reports from the police, the tragic incident involving a Sprinter van and a truck occurred near Kiang Nemakuta on Thursday, March 28, 2024. The collision resulted in six fatalities, with thirteen individuals sustaining critical injuries. Emergency services have rushed the injured to Soma Health Center, Farafenni, and Banjul hospitals for immediate medical attention.
“The Mansakonko Mobile Traffic Unit responded to a tragic road traffic accident involving a Sprinter van and a truck near Kiang Nemakuta on Thursday, March 28, 2024. The collision resulted in six fatalities and left thirteen others critically injured. They are currently receiving treatment at Soma Health Center, Farafenni, and Banjul hospitals,” police said.
Preliminary investigations by law enforcement suggest that the accident was caused by a collision between the Sprinter van and a truck, potentially triggered by an overtaking maneuver involving another vehicle, a pickup, which fled the scene afterward.
In response to the incident, the GPF (Gambian Police Force) expresses deep condolences to the families affected by this tragedy. They emphasize the importance of strict adherence to traffic regulations, including speed limits, to prevent such devastating accidents from occurring in the future.
