Essa Dampha, a political aide to President Adama Barrow, has claimed that no political coalition can unseat the Gambian leader in the 2021 presidential election of The Gambia.
“I can assure you that no coalition can shake President Barrow’s National People’s Party (NPP), President Barrow is being backed by the Gambians.”
Dampha made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Kerr Fatou in reaction to a recent statement by the spokesperson of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction- APRC Dodou Jah, who said his party is willing to form an alliance with any other party to unseat President Barrow in 2021.

Jah was recently quoted in the media as saying that they would not mind going into an alliance with their long-term political rival, United Democratic Party just to unseat Barrow.
On the other hand, Dampha said both the former President Yahya Jammeh and the leadership of the UDP would not allow such an alliance to happen in the first place .

He further said that the NPP is a grassroots party that enjoys the support of the majority of the population.
“The Gambian people were the ones who asked President Barrow to register a political party on their behalf,” he informed.
Though at its infancy, Dampha stressed that the NPP is a party that is giving other parties sleepless nights.
He believes that the same grassroots support that got President Barrow elected in 2016 is what drove his intent to run for presidency yet again in 2021. The strength of Barrow’s support, he said, cannot be rivaled by any political grouping in the country.
