3YJ bail application: State to respond Friday

The state prosecution is expected to respond to the formal bail application by the defense in the ongoing criminal trial of the eight executive members of the Three Years Jotna Movement.

When the case came up for bail hearing Tuesday, defense counsel Rachael Y. Mendy told the court that the affidavits in opposition to the bail were not reasonable.

Patrick Gomez argued that the affidavit file in opposition doesn’t amount to an opposition of the prayers file by the defendants.

He referred the court to paragraph 4 of the affidavit in opposition of Mutarr Ceesay’s file by the state.

According to him, the first line of the affidavit was complex that the draft is indeed in the left of the paper. He added that there was no requirement for the commissioner of oath to be only on the left side of the paper, nor is it a requirement to be on the first page of the affidavit.

After both parties made strong argument, the trial judge adjourned the case to Friday 14 February, at 11am for hearing.
