Kemeseng Sanneh (Kexx Sanneh) Lamin Sey, Sonko Gambia, and Nenneh Freda Gomez on Monday asked the police to investigate the cause of the death of baby Muhammed.

Reports said the child in question allegedly died after being forgotten in a hot car for hours.

“Yesterday afternoon a group of concerned citizens reached out to the police to formally lodge a complaint and put to the attention of the police the death of baby Muhammed.

“The group consists of me (Kexx Sanneh), Lamin Sey, Sonko Gambia and Nenneh Freda Gomez. We walked to the Bundung police where we met officials after the normal greetings.

“We informed the officials that our mission was to formally inform them about the mysterious death of Muhammed, which is an open secret to all, for an investigation to be launched. They informed us that the police are aware of the case and an investigation has been launched, but commended our move for reaching out to the authorities,” Kexx Sanneh said on Facebook on Tuesday.

He said the officers at the Bundung Police Station instructed them to go to Banjul Police Headquarters (at the child welfare unit) to lodge a complaint which will be recorded in their diary to have an official reference.

“We then drove to Banjul Police Headquarters at the child welfare department and met an officer there whom we informed about our mission. The officer informed us that the unit was aware of the matter. The officer then informed us that the Crime Management Coordinator (CMC) is responsible for action taken in any crime and transfers it to any concerned unit. The officer then directed us to the office of the AIG CMC.

“We were escorted to the AIG CMC Department and met the officers of the unit: They welcomed us and exchanged greetings.

“Our mission was communicated to them and they equally applauded the move, describing it as a patriotic step. One of the officials informed us that the police are aware of the crime and an investigation has been launched. They urged us to give any relevant information that can help them in their investigation,” he concluded

In a leaked audio obtained by this medium, Sainabou Mbaye, ex-wife of Bubacarr Bob Keita has said that baby Muhammed (son of her sister) was forgotten in a hot car for more three hours resulting in his death; after being taken to two hospitals in the Gambia, and a hospital in Dakar (Senegal).
