The leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) Mama Kandeh has called on President Adama Barrow and himself to continue their campaign peacefully, following exchanges recently.

“I will not talk to Adama Barrow; I will talk to IEC because Adama Barrow said he will threaten me if Yahya Jammeh speaks in my meeting again. But I will tell him he knows and I know. He cannot threaten me and there is no one who can. Then let’s continue and do the campaign in peace. That’s what Mama Kandeh wants and every good citizen of this country wants the same. What I will tell IEC is, I am waiting for instruction. If I get their instruction then I will know what to do. As far as I did not get any instruction from IEC, what I want is what will happen in my meetings.

“I did not insult anyone, we did not say anything that is about violence and they say what I want will not happen in my meetings. I want IEC to write a letter to me and tell me where in the Electoral Act indicates Gambians who are out of the country cannot call or where in the act indicates Gambians (outside the country) cannot make audios. If they bring that letter to me and show me the sections in the Electoral Act, then we will agree because we are not law breakers. But as long as that doesn’t happen, whoever I want will speak in my meeting and there is no one who can stop that,” Kandeh told his supporters in Sarreh Bojo in the Upper River Region.

The GDC leader was speaking to his supporters in Sarreh Bojo (Jimira) in the Upper River Region.

Before this moment, the duo political rivals who hailed from the same district had a couple of exchanges over Kandeh’s decision to let former president Jammeh speak at his rallies via phone call, a move disapproved by Barrow after visiting the family of Jammeh for “reconciliation” purposes.
