The Independent Electoral Commission(IEC) has on Thursday announced the dates for by-elections for four [4] vacant council seats in the Brikama and Kanifing administrative areas. The by-elections for the vacant council seats will be conducted on Saturday, 14th May 2022.
The announcement was made in a statement released to the public on Thursday, April 21, 2022, and it read in part:
“The said by-elections will be conducted in the following areas Bundung Six Junction Ward, London Corner Ward, Sanyang Ward, and Marakissa Ward”.
The electoral commission also announced that the nomination of candidates for the by-elections will be conducted from the 25th to 29th of April 2022 between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm daily; at the IEC Regional Offices in Kanifing and Brikama. The elections campaign following the nominations, will commence on the 2nd of May and end on the 12th of May 2022.
