Mai Ahmed Fatty, leader of the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC), has pledged to deliver at least 100,000 votes for President Adama Barrow in the Dec. 5 presidential election, reaffirming his party’s commitment to the president’s re-election campaign.
Speaking during a meeting at the State House to renew the GMC’s political support for Mr. Barrow, Mr. Fatty said the party had fully aligned itself with the president’s bid for another term and was prepared to intensify its campaign efforts across the country.
Addressing party officials, Mr. Fatty said those gathered were senior members of the GMC leadership rather than ordinary supporters, describing them as loyal figures who had remained committed to the party through difficult political periods.
“Each one of these people has the capacity to bring 20 people onboard, and those 20 can bring additional people,” he said. “Victory is already available; what we are seeking now is the wider margin.”
Mr. Fatty also recalled that during the administration of former President Yahya Jammeh, attempts had been made to persuade many of the party’s senior members to abandon the GMC, including through incentives, but said they had remained steadfast.
He said those same officials were now fully committed to securing President Barrow’s victory in the December election.
Calling on party members to return to their constituencies and begin grassroots mobilization, Mr. Fatty urged them to intensify their political outreach in the months leading up to the vote.
“Anyone supporting me should know that I am uncompromisingly supporting President Barrow,” he said.
The GMC has been part of the coalition backing President Barrow since the 2021 presidential election, with Mr. Fatty serving as the coordinator of the NPP alliance for the 2026 elections.
