Gambia Gets Access To Information Law

52

Kerr Fatou has gathered that President Adama Barrow  has assented to the Access To Information [ATI] Bill approved by Parliament on 1st July.

The development brought The Gambia’s first and only Access to Information Law, also referred to as Freedom of Information Law [FoI].

Now that the bill is assented to by President Barrow thereby becoming the Gambia’s Access To Information Law; the public would have the right to demand public information such as original or copies of documentary materials such as records, correspondence, fact, opinion, advice, memorandum, data, statistic, book, drawing, plan, map, diagram, photograph, audio or visual record and any other tangible or intangible material, regardless of the form or medium in which it is held, in the possession or under the act.

President Barrow has made History for this achievement after 56 years of the country’s independence.
