Fabakary Tombong Jatta, the leader of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), has firmly denied claims suggesting that his party is responsible for the National People’s Party (NPP) National Youth President’s failure to secure a bureau. Speaking at an APRC meeting in Foni Kampant on Saturday, FTJ dismissed the allegations as baseless and called for unity within the APRC ranks.

“Some people are claiming that we are the reason the NPP National Youth President does not have a bureau. That is a complete misunderstanding. Only those who lack proper understanding would say such a thing,” Jatta remarked. “We are APRC. NPP has its own structures, and we have no involvement in their internal matters. Just as they have no say in how we organize our structures. If anyone has personal issues within their party, they should not drag APRC into it. What is clear is that at APRC, we do not speak with two tongues.”

Jatta reaffirmed the APRC’s steadfast commitment to its principles and dismissed any notion of betrayal within the party.

“We are where we have always been. Even when the alliance was formed under challenging circumstances, we remained committed. We do not betray, and we do not double-speak. We believe that no matter what anyone desires, only God can make it happen. Even if you despise someone, if God wills their success, nothing can stop it,” he emphasized.

The APRC leader also extended an olive branch to a breakaway faction within the party, urging them to return and reunite under the APRC banner.

“Everyone makes mistakes, but the worst mistake is refusing to acknowledge them. Our doors remain open. Let’s come together and raise the green flag once again. We know we are not a small party, and every disagreement should eventually come to an end,” he appealed.

Bakary Jaiteh, popularly known as Baxo and a notable APRC supporter, also spoke at the event. He praised FTJ’s leadership in stabilizing the party after difficult times and cautioned against political opponents attempting to infiltrate APRC ranks.

“They fought against the APRC government, but thanks to Fabakary, the party has returned to normalcy,” Baxo said. “Now they have changed strategies, saying if you cannot defeat your enemies, you should join them. We must be vigilant and not allow them to exploit us. These are the same people who once claimed the APRC did nothing for The Gambia. They said we did not build schools or contribute to development. But we will remind them: it was APRC that brought rural electrification, it was APRC that initiated the OIC project, it was APRC that built roads like the North Bank Road, and it was APRC that constructed the Kerewan Bridge.”

The meeting concluded with strong calls for party unity and a reaffirmation of the APRC’s contributions to national development.
