Kaddy Touray, a native of Faraba Bantang, has told the Joof Commission that members of paramilitary forces have broken into her house threatening to have s** with her during the riot that resulted to the death of three people.

Touray gave her testimony before the commission which has held its Monday sittings at the village following a brief tour to various sites affected by the protest.

About a month ago, Paramilitary men opened fire at protesters killing 3 and injuring dozens. The Gambian leader Adama Barrow then established the Joof Commission which ends it session last Friday at the Atlantic Hotel in Banjul.

Touray said she was hit by a tear gas after which she fell unconscious. She said there were paramilitaries stationed at Faraba before the coming of the reinforcement.

“Today we will have sex with you to our satisfaction,” she claimed they told her.  “I was deeply insulted by the PIUs.”

This is the third time the Faraba Commissioners have visited the village since they started the investigation, according to the chairperson of the commission, Emmanuel Joof.

Meanwhile, three other natives of Faraba who testified before the commission were Aja Sanyang, Wonto Kujabi Samateh and Bakary Badjie.

Badgie said activities of the Julakay mining company in the village has destroyed their rice fields.
